With dhal to die for, samoosas to scintillate, a curry crammed with flavour and a pudd so perfect, my taste buds were in heaven all evening. Shabs & Sarah have created a little South African experience in the middle of Wheatley. They are so welcoming and the space so comfortable, you feel at ease as you step through the front door. A wonderful evening from start to finish. Sometimes there aren't the words to describe it and you just have to experience it. This is one of those times. I cannot recommend highly enough.

The beef curry was melt in the mouth soft and the spicing mouthwatering. I can write an ode to each course, but something can only be experienced in the flesh. We recently booked Durban Spice for a private dining experience. First off the ease and communication from Shabs was first class. On the evening, the welcome to us and the rest of our guests was super warm and friendly. Sarah did an excellent job of hosting us and accommodating to all ensuring we all felt at ease. The food was literally incredible, the flavours were even better than the food back home in Durban. Sarah & Shabs did a great job explaining the dishes, their story and how they come to get that real true Durban flavour and spice. Thank you so much, it made for a wonderful evening and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. A fabulous evening out with yummy flavours for the palate = foodgasms of note. Some dishes on the night, just outshone others with the flavours, but they they were all delicious. We all went away with food babies & to be honest, by the time the main came we struggled as to finish due to the previous courses. Have to say I was a bit disappointed being summer that we didn't get peppermint crisp tart for the dessert 🙂 My friends have a sweeter tooth than I do, so they got through the malva pudding, which I couldn't. Would love to be able to attend a seafood evening. The explinations from Sarah was fab & Shabs coming through at the end to chat to each table also a truly lovely touch. AMAZING evening & would recommend. Need a car I'd say as no station close by unfortunately 🙂

What a lovely evening! It can feel a bit strange going to a strangers house for dinner but from the minute you walk in the door, this disappeared. We received the warmest welcome from Sarah and were led to our table. The service is personal and genuine. Shabs came out after dinner to say hi and make sure we were happy with everything. The food was delicious and not close to ‘normal’ Indian food at all. The flavours were lovely and everything was seasoned to perfection. Sarah takes the time to explain where the dishes come from and what spices are used. Fantastic hosts, amazing food - looking forward to our next visit! To mimic other reviews - make sure you arrive hungry!!

From the moment we entered Durban Spice we felt the warmth of typical South African hospitality.

We joined our good friends who have been several times before and who warned us "come hungry".

All 6 courses in the intimate, homely environment certainly did not disappoint. Each unique dish was explained and the love experienced in the palate. Absolutely delicious. It is 4.25 am as I write this post and I am so full!

The ambiance matched with authentic hospitality was simply unprecedented.

What a phenomenal evening and incredible value. We loved every minute and it was well worth the drive up from London.

An amazing bunny chow night to celebrate our anniversary. Shabs and Sarah are amazing hosts and the food was heavenly. Whether it's a takeaway or supper club, a meal from Durban Spice always make me miss South Africa a little bit less.

I can't recommend Durban Spice highly enough.
My partner and I went to one of their super clubs a couple of nights ago. I was a little unsure of what to expect, it's unusual to dine in a stranger's home. But we were made so welcome and it didn't feel weird at all. I wondered if we might share a table with strangers, which could be great or awful, but we had our own table so no again, no worries there!
The food was absolutely delicious and, according to all the South African's in attendance, totally authentic. Each course was explained with passion, not just what the food was but why it was chosen and why it was special to the hosts.
Everything about the evening was perfect and BYOB was the cherry on the icing on the cake!

We had our first experience at the Supper Club just last week and it was absolutely amazing! The flavours took me straight back to South Africa with each course unique and delicious. The portions were generous and the atmosphere warm and inviting.

And we weren't, every dish is skillfully created by Shabs using authentic ingredients sourced from SA.

Each delicious course is proceeded by a brief explanation from Sarah giving the history and story behind the dish.

We left at the end of the evening with our bellies full and our very impressed South African guest.
