We had the pleasure of attending Durban Spice’s Bunny Chow night and were blown away. It truly is a taste of home! All the spices are from South Africa for that authentic flavour. The samoosa’s are to die for! We even bought some to take home with us. We felt so welcomed into their home. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Our second time at Durban Spice, the first being pre-Covid (over 2 years ago) The welcome from Sarah and Shabs was as warm as ever and the food, true to form, was out of this world (the man knows how to pack in flavour in the grub and Sarah’s desserts are delicious)Durban Spice is a 2 1/2 hour drive for us but is worth every minute Keep it up guys, we’ll see you again.

My husband and I attended Durban Spice with a bunch of friends for their renowned Bunny Chow last night at it did not disappoint. From the samoosa starters and malva dessert, everything was even better than expected. We all felt so welcome and comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the stories surrounding the different dishes and delicious accompaniments. The room almost went quiet as everyone delved in to enjoy the unforgetable taste sensation. We will be back, thank you Durban Spice for giving us a little taste from home.

Picked up our take away on Saturday afternoon, ready & waiting and well labelled. The Hake and Prawn dish was full of well balanced flavours. The bean bunny chow was well worth the try – simple, delicious, spicy curry in a light bread bowl. Overall, this was a special treat take away, with wonderful tastes of the Rainbow nation down south.
We went to Durban Spice supper club on it’s opening night and thought the food was magnificent – and since lockdown in March we’ve had a takeaway every Saturday save one or two. Each evening we stare at empty plates saying “That was so tasty!” So I recommend Shabs’ and Sarah’s culinary skills whether it is the starters of samoosas or chilli bites or bilton pate, or the mains of lamb, beef, duck or prawn and hake, or monkfish or veggie curreis with aubergine and chickpea, or the spongy desserts with sauces, you jsut can’t go wrong! If you haven’t ordered a Durban Spice takeawy, get one this weekend!
Ordered takeaway last night and it was so tasty! The mackerel samoosas were fantastic and we both loved our duck and beef dishes. Perfect amount of spice as well….looking forward to trying it again soon!
Absolutely lovely, delivered this afternoon by Shabs and his lovely wife, easy to reheat this evening, dinner was full of flavour and one of the best takeaway dinners I have ever had. Will certainly be ordering again.
We had a delicious take away last night! Once we can eat out again we’ll definitely be eating here. Until then I am sure we will have more takeaways.

First time at Durban Spice and first time with South African cuisine…..definately not the last!. Food was lovely, so many flavours and so much care for details! Sarah went through every single dish with us and Shabs cooked such an amazing 5 course dinner. Such an amazing evening! Highly recommended. PS Looking forward to for a new seafood event!
Had this as my birthday treat and it was like home away from home, the food was out of this world and the aromas took me back home. This is my second review! Last night we finally managed to attend the Bunny Chow evening! What a delight! They are brilliant hosts and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming! The food is ‘Lip-lek-lekker’, they know and love their food and have perfected it to a fine art. Everyone should go!
Shabs and Sarah are the most hospitable hosts and the food is out of this world! Amazing dishes and things I might never have tried before if I haven’t gone. Shabs is an amazing cook and Sarah runs through each course in detail – it’s definately one that’s not to be missed. Thank you both so much for having us.

Found a gem tucked away in Oxford. What a fabulous dinner with food we love and remember from our native town Durban. Best meal I’ve eaten in the UK. Congratulations and thank you to Shabs and Sarah on a superb meal, brillant hosts and stunning venue. Our English family truly enjoyed the meal.
What a fantastic evening had by myself and my Mum last night at one of Durban Spice’s Seafood evenings. Not only was the meal amazing but the hospitality too, we felt so welcome from the moment we walked in. We can’t wait to go back again, thank you for a wonderful evening!
Just got back from a fabulous meal at Durban Spice. Food was beautifully presented and cooked and expertly introduced. A thoroughly enjoyable experience for our first ever supperclub and we both more or less saddled out of the door. Fantastic flavours and fabulous hosts in Shabs and Sarah! We will be back!.
This was our first meal at the Durban Spice but it won’t be our last. From the moment we walked through the door Sarah & Shabir were the perfect hosts. Beautiful dining area, excellent food and loved the information Sarah gave on the courses we were having. Such a fun enjoyable evening felt like we had known them for years. Love love LOVE the food at Durban Spice; best bunny chow I have ever had (and I grew up in Durban). We have visited Durban Spice twice now, and each time we have been blown away by the food. Sarah and Shabir are welcoming and professional, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone. The boerewors samosas alone are worth the visit!
